Dear Clay

a digital collage (which there seems to be no actual category for-?) of actual old photos and telegrams that i scrounged up from the barn loft of an old house in Bath, NY. the telegrams were all dated 1944-1947, the photographs were unlabelled for the most part. the suggestion of story and the glimpse into the lives of these people was what drew me to the images. i know that my own family has similar photographs somewhere, tucked away. the telegrams were back and forth between a young man in the service in WW2 and his family. i have had these bits of old photo laying about for a couple years now and finally got around to scanning them to play with. i first wanted to collage them in a painting, but then id didn't want to destroy them... so digital collaging it is. i am pleased with this image, it hints at the innocence of the children that the serviceman has left behind, and the family that was waiting for him to return.
